Volunteer Roles
Team Lead
The Team Leaders are an essential part of ensuring the conference runs smoothly and in an organized manner. The Team Leader has a variety of responsibilities that are outlined below:
- Team Leads will manage and maintain the Sign-In/Sign-Out Process for their team and keep track of the team roster.
- Team Leads will keep a regular count of the children on their team as they move from activity to activity throughout the day.
- Team Leads will help the children on their team with crafts, activities, and more.
- Team Leads will maintain a professional demeanor in assisting parents with the security processes.
- Team Leads will communicate with their Section Leader about any issues or problems that they have noticed.
Team Leads will be supported by at least one Team Assistant along with their Section Leader and Section Runners.
Team Assistant
Runners are the lifeblood of the MPEKids conference as they assist in almost every area from activities to registration and more. Runner responsibilities are listed below:
- Team Assistants will help to welcome children and engage them in activities while the Team Lead runs their Sign-In/Sign-Out process.
- Team Assistants will provide regular assistance in counting the team, moving the team throughout the day, and leading in activities.
- Team Assistants will report any difficulties or problems to their Team Leader so that they can work together toward a thoughtful resolution.
- Team Assistants may be asked to manage the team temporarily while the Team Lead is engaged in other responsibilities.
Team Assistants will be assigned to a team with a Team Lead.
Security
The Security team ensures a safe and protected environment for children and volunteers to enjoy their time at the conference. The Security team responsibilities are outlined below:
- Security will ensure that only volunteers and parents of registered children are allowed access to the MPEK event.
- Security will monitor all access points to ensure there is no unauthorized entry or exit.
- Security will oversee that the Sign-In/Sign-Out process is being maintained properly by every team.
- Security will assist in providing an accurate count of children in attendance.
Security will work in shifts throughout both days as managed by the Head of Security
Runner
Runners are what makes the conference possible. Being tasked with many small tasks throughout each day that are essential to keeping everything running. Runner responsibilities are below:
- Runners will assist teams by running children to the bathrooms throughout the day.
- Runners will equip teams with all necessary supplies needed for crafts, activities, Sign-In, and more.
- Runners will help to run the games, obstacle course, and other activities.
- Runners will direct families from registration to their teams and back again.
- Runners may be asked to fill-in for other volunteer roles throughout the day.
Runners will be assigned to a Section Lead and will be assigned work throughout the day as needed.
